- Describe how ACT incorporates elements of exposure therapy to reduce experiential avoidance in a patient with chronic low back pain.
- Summarize core ACT concepts through the use of three patient case examples.
- Integrate ACT techniques into current practice.
- Apply the ACT therapeutic model to chronic stress regulation.
- Develop two mindfulness exercises to be used in an ACT intervention.
- Evaluate client behaviors, such as experiential avoidance, cognitive fusion, and values-oriented living.

Joe Tatta, PT, DPT, CNS, is a leader in integrative pain care, championing the cause for safe and effective chronic pain treatment.
